Getting ready for the new year to start.

It is a sleepy start to the day.  I think Bri would have been happier sleeping in.  I told her that she better get into the groove of getting back to a school schedule.  School will be starting on Tuesday.

I told her that she looks like she went thru a machine.  LOL  Between the lovely haircut she did to herself at the beginning of the summer, teeth coming in, and her face plant into a wrought iron gate, I just had to shake my head.  Thankfully, she didn't get hurt really bad in any of these things.  Graceful she isn't.  LOL

But I am so grateful that God blessed me with a health and happy child.  She is full of spirit, joy, and love.

The Homeschool Journal post.

We are in the middle of moving, so I haven't been posting much.  We have moved our first day of school to after Labor Day.  That way we can get settled and chill out before we get started.

In my life this week…Is full of boxes, packing tape, and carrying boxes up and down steps.

I am inspired by…the clean and empty space of our new apartment.  It is like a new start.
My favorite thing this week was…Bri and I went to lunch at a Chinese place and to get our haircut.  It was a girls day out.

Questions/thoughts I have…My thoughs are with all the people that will be affected by the hurricane.

I’m grateful for…My wonderful hubby Rooster.  He works hard so I can stay home and teach my daughter.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…This is the view of the dock and pool behind our new apartment.

The Homeschool Journal post.

In my life this week…  We are getting ready to start "school" on Monday.  Plus we were disappointed about one apartment, but are going to look at some this weekend.

I am inspired by…  Reading other homeschool families blogs and talking to other families in the homeschool group that we belong to.  I like to know what they are doing and using.

Things I’m working on…  Getting a loose schedule together.  I don't want to take the fun out of learning at home, but I have goals and things that I want to get done.

I’m grateful for…  The wonderful families that are in our homeschool group.  They are the greatest.

I'm praying for...  Christian's further recovery.  (Please visit my blog http://www.mrsrooster.blogspot.com and go to Please pray for this baby on the sidebar and click it to go to his blog)

Patriotism is our homes

I saw this on my surf thru the webby world.  I think it is very important.

Do you visit battlefields, memorials, or other historic places around you or when you travel?  We go to The Alamo everytime we go to San Antonio.  The battle site of the battle of San Jacinto is minutes from our house.  We go there often.  Do you even know what the battle of San Jacinto is?  Why is it important?  Yes, it is the day that Texas became a Republic.  It was over in 18 minutes.  The famous "remember The Alamo" was coined.  But it was a piece of history that you can sit and touch.  It happened right there.  Have you visited Gettysburg?  That place has a feel like no other place.

Do you fly an American flag?  Only on holidays?

If you have never been to a re-enactment, you just have to go.  It is a wonderful way to learn about history.  I have seen them and also be in them.  We use to do Civil War re-enactments.  Kids love it.  Questions, Questions, Questions.  It is a great way to get a conversation going or a project started.
